Sky To Showcase Content To Woo Subscribers

Staff – MediaTel NewsLine

Sky has announced a summer of outdoor events designed to showcase its premium content and woo potential subscribers to its range of entertainment channels.

The summer programming offensive will run under a new Sky Screens brand, with unique screenings designed to convince viewers of Sky’s quality credentials across movies, dramas, documentaries, sporting events and kids TV.

The broadcaster will also offer interactive elements with each screening, with some shown in themed environments.

The first events to run will be Sky’s Kids TV Parties, giving children on their Easter holidays the chance to see episodes of their favourite Nick Jr., Cartoon Network and Discovery Kids shows. Amongst those being screened are Dora the Explorer, Thomas and Friends, Angelina Ballerina, Dexter’s Laboratory and Peep & the Big Wide World.

Children’s entertainers dressed as Angelina Ballerina, Dora the Explorer, Dexter and Thomas’s friend The Fat Controller help to cement the experience, exposing children and parents alike to the range of content available through Sky.

More events are planned, designed to showcase the broadcaster’s wide ranging portfolio of entertainment channels.

The company’s latest push for new subscribers follows massively increased customer numbers in Q4 2004, with Sky enjoying a subscriber base representing almost a third of homes in Britain (see Sky Confident Subscriber Rise Can Quash Freeview).
