Skype has signed a new deal with CNN International to sponsor its ‘Connect the World’ segment as part of the company’s global ad campaign.

The multimedia marketing push will see Skype become an exclusive sponsor of the segment, with advertising on the programme’s web and mobile pages, according to reports.

In addition, ‘Connect the World’ viewers will be encouraged to log-on to Skype Chat on CNN.com to talk about the programme when it’s finished.

A television campaign promoting Skype’s business features, including video calling and cheap international rates, will also support the new partnership.

Ads will feature across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific.
