Following his departure from GCap Media, James Smythe has been appointed to lead BMRB Sports Research, the company’s specialist unit dedicated to providing research services for organisations and businesses involved in sport.
Smythe was formerly the head of market research at GCap Media, and prior to that he was associated director at Carat Insight. He is currently a member of the Great Britain Marathon Canoeing committee and manager for the GB Team.
“With London 2012 on the horizon, its potential legacy for the country and increased pressure for growth and results, sport has never had so much to compete for,” he said. “Effective research is going to be at the heart of this and I’m greatly looking forward to ensuring that BMRB meets this demand.”

James combines a great understanding of research with a passion for sport which will fully exploit BMRB’s sports data and experience.”
