Ex-Channel 4 sales director Matt Salmon is joining Snap as commercial director for its UK enterprise business.
Salmon will be based in London and report to Ed Couchman, regional general manager for DACH, Netherlands, Nordics and UK.
Couchman said: “Thanks to his tenure at Channel 4, Matt has a deep understanding of, and passion for, the TV broadcast market, which will help us to further build on Snap’s strong momentum in the online video market.”
Salmon’s main focusses will be on coordinating the UK vertical and category teams for Snapchat, as well as building revenue and consolidate relationships with advertisers and agencies.
He worked at Channel 4 for nearly nine years, starting as head of agency sales and commercial marketing, then head of agency and client sales and then interim director of sales in 2020, following the promotion of Jonathan Allan to chief operating officer.
After leaving the broadcaster in December 2020, he became a strategic advisor and independent consultant.
Prior to Channel 4, he worked at Hearst Magazines UK for more than 11 years moving from group advertisement director for Prima and Prima Baby to group commercial director.
This is the latest in a spree of UK-based EMEA hiring for Snap. In the last year, the media platform has hired Amber Sayer as senior head of retail and ecommerce, Leila Woodington as director of business marketing for EMEA; Laura Clare, senior director of communications for EMEA, and Jed Hallam as EMEA head of comms planning.
