Soaps Prove Popular On Monday Night

Coronation Street Last night proved popular for the soaps, with ITV attracting an average of over ten million adult viewers for the first episode of Coronation Street, dipping slightly for the second showing, watched by an average of 9.6 million adult viewers.

Elsewhere, Eastenders attracted a healthy average audience of 9.6 million, while the first episode of the Corporation’s new detective series, Chopra Town, drew in an average of 3.8 million adult viewers.

BBC2 enjoyed a strong turn out for Rick Stein’s Christmas Special, with an audience of just over four million.

The Bad Girls Christmas Special on ITV also achieved good ratings, attracting an average of 5.7 million adult viewers, while Channel 4’s Dispatches – What’s Really in Your Christmas Dinner drew an audience of 1.5 million adult viewers.
