Sorrell Sees ‘No Blue Sky’

WPP CEO Sir Martin Sorrell, speaking at the World Economic Forum in New York, has said that he sees no signs of a recovery in the global economy or advertising market despite the upbeat forecasts of some commentators at the World Forum. “I’ve seen no blue sky or green shoots. Nothing tells me the global economy is improving” he said.

Shares in WPP, the world’s largest advertising agency, have continued to fall this week following Sorrell’s comments on Saturday. WPP shares now stand at 652˝p after closing at 686p on Friday.

The World Economic Forum held its annual meeting in New York this year, a move from its home in Davos, Switzerland, as a sign of support after the attacks of 11 September.
