Music streaming service Spotify is to integrate social media functions in its “most significant upgrade” since launching in 2008.
The company hopes the upgrade will allow users to display and share music more easily through a Spotify Music Profile, where favourite playlists can be stored and transferred wirelessly to mobile devices.
Spotify users will now be able to tag their favourite song or album and then share choices with other Spotfiy users or with friends via Facebook Connect.
The new feature will also allow users to publish their profile on to any websites, including their Facebook profile.
Daniel Ek, founder and chief executive of Spotify, said: “We want to empower users to share and discover music in a way that hasn’t been possible up until now. It’s never been easier to enjoy music together.”
