Taylor Nelson Buys US Ad Tracking Service

Global market research group, Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS), has this morning announced the acquisition of Adscope, a provider of advertising tracking services in the US, for an undisclosed sum.

TNS will run the Oregon-based business as a division of CMR, the US’ largest provider of advertising tracking services, acquired by TNS in June last year.

Adscope provides continuous monitoring of business-to-business advertising expenditure, primarily for high-technology publications. Its clients include advertisers, publishers, media buyers and advertising agencies and the company tracks nearly $7 billion in advertising expenditure annually.

Adscope employs 18 people, had a turnover of $1 million last year and is wholly owned by its president who will remain with the company.

Commenting on the acquisition, Jean-Michel Portier, head of Taylor Nelson Sofres Media Intelligence sector, said: “The activities of Adscope bring additional expertise to CMR and the acquisition reinforces our leading position in advertising expenditure tracking in the US. CMR already sources data from Adscope and is aware of the quality and reliability of its work.”

At midday today stock in TNS was unchanged at 226½p.
