The Daily Telegraph could launch a tabloid edition by the end of the summer, according to a report in The Observer.
The tabloid update of the quality daily, claims the report, is part of a wider project to revamp the paper for the “digital age”, with William Lewis, an associate editor at the paper overseeing the changes.
About 30 people are working on a multimedia news room, from an office above Victoria station, in order to be able to train journalists to submit stories for television, radio and print.
It is thought that the tabloid edition, if it goes ahead, will launch regionally at first and be published alongside the broadsheet version of the paper.
The Observer report stresses that there is currently no suggestion of a tabloid version of the Telegraph being launched nationally
