The Daily Telegraph has increased its cover price to £1.

Telegraph Media Group’s rise leaves The Times as the only weekday national quality newspaper priced at 90p.

The Telegraph‘s increase follows a number of similar cover price rises in the quality sector, which have seen the Guardian, The Times and the Financial Times all up their prices this year.

The Daily Telegraph, The Independent and The Guardian are now all priced at £1, while the Financial Times sells for £2.

However, the quality titles have launched discount subscription offers and home delivery schemes for regular readers in a bid to offset cover price increases.

In the latest ABC release, for September 2009, the quality market enjoyed a good period, with two of the five titles – the Financial Times and the Guardian – increasing their circulation figures.

The Daily Telegraph, meanwhile, posted a small period on period decline of 1.5% but still holds the crown of the top-selling quality newspaper with a total circulation of more than 801,000 copies.
