Teletext Sees High User Retention With VOD Services

Teletext Logo Teletext has boarded the on-demand bandwagon, offering users of its Teletext Holidays website access to a range of video content to help inform their holiday choices.

The website now enables users to access a video player with built in search capabilities, opening up access to video guides for a range of popular holiday destinations.

The content, originally produced for the Teletext Holidays TV channel, is designed to inspire users’ holiday choices, with areas including Barbados, Majorca and Egypt amongst the many covered by the content.

Initial take-up has been strong, with users viewing over 20,000 clips on the first day of availability. The service also appears to have graduated beyond novelty appeal, with viewers glued to their screens for an average of 19 minutes.

This high level of consumption is further evidence of the market for video content online, with travel content seemingly an attractive proposition for consumers.

Teletextholidays.co.uk was recently awarded eSuperbrand status, earmarking it as one of the UK’s favourite consumer websites. The recognition places the site alongside brands such as Google, BBC and AOL.

Announcing the launch of the site’s new video content, Anthony Chenery, online marketing manager for Teletext Holidays, said: “The initial response to our video guides has been great. Users are now spending longer on the site viewing our VOD content.

“The video guides are already proving popular helping our users make the right holiday choice before finding the right deal on our service. This new aspect to the website provides our advertisers with an excellent opportunity to further improve conversion figures.”

Earlier this year saw Teletext revamp its Holidays website, allowing tailor-made advertising on the platform (see Teletext Revamp Offers Tailor-Made Ad Opportunities), before launching a marketing offensive as part of a wider £6 Million campaign (see Teletext Launches £6 Million Digital Push).
