May 2010 television viewing figures show that BBC One was the only terrestrial channel to see a rise in its share of viewing.

ITV1 saw its share fall 3.4 percentage points year on year, while Channel 4 and BBC Two were both down by under 1 percentage point.

Five also recorded a slight year on year fall.

All Viewing

BBC One’s viewing share grew 1.2 percentage points in May 2010, to 21.2%, with new cop drama Luther putting in some respectable performances.

ITV1 suffered a 3.4 percentage point fall, despite the continued success of hit show Britain’s Got Talent, leaving its viewing share at 15.9%.

Channel 4 and BBC Two were down by 0.6 and 0.7 percentage points respectively. Channel 4 now has a 6.1% share, while BBC Two’s stands at 6.6%.

Five, meanwhile, saw its share dip 0.2 percentage points year on year, to 4.7%.

Digital Viewing

In digital homes, BBC One saw its viewing share increase 1.8 percentage points year on year, to 20.7%, while ITV1’s share was down 2.8 percentage points to 15.5%.

BBC Two and Channel 4 were both down by 0.2 percentage points, to 6.3% and 5.9% respectively, with Five’s share a non-mover at 4.7%.

Sky and Freeview Homes

May saw BBC One grab a 24.6% share of viewing in Freeview homes and an 18% share in Sky homes, while ITV1 had an 18.6% share in Freeview homes and a 13.2% share in Sky homes.

Other channels had a 54.5% share in Sky homes and a 34.2% share in Freeview homes.
