The Major Advertisers In thelondonpaper

Thelondonpaper Thelondonpaper launched yesterday afternoon, with media commentators everywhere itching to get their hands on a copy.

One of the most interesting things to find out was which brands decided to advertise their wares in the new freesheet, hopefully giving some indication of just who the paper is supposed to appeal to.

The most prominent advertisements in the paper were for cars, broadband service providers, a mobile phone company and a musical.

The first striking ad in thelondondpaper was a half-page horizontal colour advertisement on page five, for T-Mobile.

Fiat and Peugot had their half-page horizontal ads on pages six and eight respectively, whilst NTL:Telewest had a half page ad running across the bottom of pages 10-11.

BT also had a half-page horizontal advertisement, on page 17, for their Total Broadband service, with the next large advertisement also from a broadband provider, AOL, on page 23.

Also featuring prominently, with a back cover, was a full page ad for the soon to launch musical Spamalot, based on the classic comedy, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

It appears that thelondondpaper, at least as far as advertisers are concerned, is aimed at modern, internet-literate consumers, a view the paper would no doubt wish to endorse.
