The Times to reorganise staff in newsroom shake-up

The Times has announced a newsroom shake-up; Mike Smith has been appointed deputy home editor, and Suzy Jagger has been promoted from politics and business reporter to foreign news editor.

Deputy political editor Francis Elliott has become Delhi correspondent, following the departure of India correspondent Jeremy Page.

Robin Pagnamenta, energy editor, has been appointed Mumbai correspondent. He is replacing Rhys Blakely, who has been appointed LA correspondent.

New York correspondent James Bone has been moved to Rome, replacing Richard Owen. Bones’ place has been replaced with features writer Will Pavia.

Asia business correspondent, Leo Lewis, has been assigned China correspondent, replacing Jane McCartney who has moved back to the foreign desk in London.

Jane Knight, has been promoted to travel editor from deputy travel editor, replacing Kathleen Wyatt.

Writer Tom Whipple and trainee Kaya Burgess have been promoted to Times2 features writers.

Trainee Laura Dixon has completed her two-year apprenticeship and has been appointed general reporter for home news.
