September saw thelondonpaper stay ahead of the London Lite, with both titles suffering small month on month decreases in circulation, of around 1%.
thelondonpaper‘s circulation now stands at around 491,700, whilst the London Lite has a total of more than 401,800.
Paid-for title the Evening Standard enjoyed a month on month increase in its circulation, up around 5%, or 13,600 copies in real terms, taking its total to over 291,100.
Towards the end of September, the Evening Standard launched a cashless payment card that its readers can swipe at sales points in order to pick up their copy of the paper (see Evening Standard Gets Cashless Payment Card).
It was also announced that the paper was getting its own standalone website, separate to the entertainment website thisislondon.co.uk (see Evening Standard Gets Standalone Website)
The morning freesheet Metro was up by almost 89,900 copies month on month, whilst the morning business freesheet City AM was up by more than 21% over the same period.
The titles now have total circulations of more than 636,800 and around 99,100 respectively.
