TV advertising expenditure predicted to rise by 8% in October

Total UK television advertising expenditure is predicted to be up by about 8% year-on-year in October 2010, according to industry figures.

Channel 4 is forecast to outperform the market, with the main channel on target to increase advertising sales by about 12.5% year-on-year. The Channel 4 network, including digital services such as E4, is predicted to be up by 12.2%.

ITV’s channels, including digital services such as ITV2, are also expected to outperform the market, increasing by around 11% year-on-year. ITV1, the flagship network, is expected to be up 11.5%.

BSkyB is predicted to perform in line with the market, with advertising expenditure forecast to increase by 8%.

Channel 5, which is expected to report an ad revenue fall in September, is predicted the least growth in October, with TV advertising sales forecast to be up 1% at the main network. Channel 5’s portfolio, including digital networks Fiver and Five USA, is expected to be up by 0.5%.
