TV Market Round-Up – March 2008
As with the previous month only GMTV recorded a year on year increase in revenue amongst the terrestrial channels during March. The breakfast station received £5.3 million in revenue monies, up 18.5% on March 2007.
Across the whole ITV1 network revenue was down by 2% to stand at £114.43 million.
Channel 4’s revenues fell 5% year on year, to £56.86 million. Five recorded the greatest year on year decline, down by 11.4% to stand at £ 21.27 million.
Total Satellite saw its revenue total increase by 15.4% year on year, to stand at £96.4 million

ITV Franchises
According to our agency estimates Central achieved the greatest share of ITV1 revenue, with the Midland franchise areas attaining 15.67% share of the network’s revenue.
The North West/Border area, which went from 9.36% in March 2007 to 10.07% this year, saw the best year on year increase in share.
West Country maintains its position as ITV1’s smallest provider of revenue, remaining at 2.04% for March 2008.

Costs Per Thousand
ITV1 cost per thousands price fell across all our featured audiences. The biggest decrease in price came from Men, down by 8.8% year on year
Channel 4 also reported across the board falls for our featured audiences, with Men by 14.1% to cost £17.44.
Five was also cheaper to reach across all audiences, with ABC1 Adults falling the most year on year (down 23.2% to cost £11.2).

Commercial Impacts
ITV1 saw all featured audiences improve year on year for commercial impacts, with Men up 7.4% on March 2007. ABC1 Adults, 5.9% higher than twelve months ago, recorded the next biggest increase.
All featured audiences increased for Channel 4 during March 2008. The biggest increase was recorded amongst Men, up by 10.5% year on year.
Five’s commercial impacts increased across all featured audiences, with ABC1 Adults rising the most (up 15.3% year on year).
Total Broadcast’s recorded year on year rises for all featured audiences, with Adults performing best up 15.6% on March 2007.
