A massive 9.1 million switched on to BBC One at 7.30pm to watch the swimming finals in the aquatics center (43.2% of the audience share). Viewers were in for a treat as GB’s Michael Jamieson raced to silver in men’s 200m breaststroke.
Apart from swimming, the rowing finals and the cycling time trials were also popular hits on BBC One daytime slots, thanks to our new medal heroes – averaging an audience share of just over 30% throughout the day.
BBC Three’s coverage of the men’s GB football team also managed to attract a peak audience of 3.5 million once the swimming had come to an end.
Emmerdale was once again the only noticeable exception as 5.3 million of its loyal fans once tuned into watch the soap at 7pm.
