ITV1’s latest Dancing on Ice series ended on a high of more than 8.5 million viewers during last night’s prime time slot.
The Dancing on Ice Final, on between 7.40pm and 10pm, attracted more than eight million average viewers and a 30.5% audience share.
The extended show saw the three finalists – Chloe Madeley, Laura Hamilton and Sam Attwater – battle it out to take this year’s crown. However, Attwater skated away as the winner after an impressive Bolero.
Dancing on Ice has boosted ITV1’s weekend ratings for months – the show won the top spot in the top programme rankings in both January and February with a high of more than 10.2 million viewers.
The rest of this weekend’s schedule was dominated by sports. On Saturday, BBC One secured almost a clear run with Football Focus, Formula 1, Cycling and The Boat Race – only losing out to ITV1 during the evening slot.
At 5pm, the Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race banked a high of more than 6.6 million peak viewers for the channel.
BBC One also pulled in a high of more than 2.1 million viewers for the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday lunch time.
However, for ITV1, the Live International Football match between Scotland and Brazil proved to be a high point on Sunday afternoon. The game peaked with more than 2.3 million viewers.
