TV Overnights: Football scores a high of 5.3m for ITV1

ITV1’s coverage of the UEFA Champions League match scored the top prime time ratings last night with a high of 5.3 million viewers.

The football banked more than 4.2 million average viewers and an 18.3% audience share from 7.30pm onwards, though BBC One’s line-up secured the peak ratings for part of Waterloo Road and Who Do You Think You Are?

Waterloo Road attracted over 4.6 million peak viewers and a 20.4% average audience share during the full 7.30pm to 8.30pm slot, meanwhile the second part of Who Do You Think You Are? reached a high of 5.4 million peak viewers in the post 9.30pm slot.

On BBC Two, the Horizon documentary about Fukushima picked up more than a million peak viewers but settled on 911,000 and a 3.8% share during the full 9pm to 10pm slot.

Meanwhile, Channel 4’s Grand Designs pulled in 2.7 million average viewers and an 11.4% share at the same time as Channel 5’s Law and Order gained just over a million viewers and a 4.3% share.

In the 10pm slot, Channel 5’s Big Brother attracted 1.4 million average viewers and a 8.6% audience share.
