TV Overnights: Marchlands continues to scare 5.2 million viewers

The second episode of ITV1’s Marchlands attracted an average audience of 5.2 million viewers.

Despite a drop of 700,000 viewers on last week, the supernatural drama comfortably won the 9pm peaktime slot.

ITV1 had a strong Thursday performance thanks to its soap-filled evening schedule.

Ratings bankers Emmerdale and Coronation Street both pulled in audiences in excess of 7 milllion. The first edition of Yorkshire set Emmerdale was watched by 7.1 million viewers, with the second edition seen by 7.4 million an hour later. In Weatherfield, Coronation Street gave ITV1 its biggest audience of the night, with 8.2 million viewers.

Meanwhile, Eastenders provided BBC One’s top ratings – peaking with more than 8.5 million viewers and a 37.2% average share between 7.30pm and 8pm.

Elsewhere, Relocation Relocation and Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day pulled in respective audiences of 1.8 and 1.4 million viewers for Channel 4. Over on Five, Justin Lee Collins: Turning Japanese had 781,000 watching between 9pm and 10pm
