ITV1’s Midsomer Murders won the 9pm to 10pm slot last night, peaking at 4.3 million viewers.

Starting at 8pm, the drama attracted an average audience of just under 4 million viewers and a share of 18% – down on last week’s 4.5 million viewers and 20.2% share.

BBC One’s peak slot offering, the second installment of The Secret Tourist, managed an average viewing figure of 3.4 million and a share of 15.1%

BBC Two’s new series, The Normans, achieved just under 3 million viewers and a 13.2% share.

Channel 4 Cutting Edge documentary, Newlyweds: The One Year Itch, attracted 2.4 million viewers and an average share of 10.5%.

Elsewhere, Five’s NCIS managed 1.3 million viewers and a 5.8% share – improving on last week’s 1.1 million viewers and a 4.7% share.

Earlier in the evening, BBC One’s Celebrity Masterchef won the 8pm to 9pm slot, with 4.3 million viewers and a 20% share.

ITV1’s Emmerdale, airing from 7pm to 7.30pm, won its slot as usual, with an audience of 5.9 million and a share of 32%.

During the daytime, BBC One achieved the highest morning ratings, with BBC Two and ITV1 wining some slots in the afternoon.
