TV Overnights: Mrs Biggs and The Other Side of Jimmy Savile see ITV1 dominate share

The last episode in the series of Mrs Biggs (9pm), saw a combined  ITV1 and ITV1 hd audience of nearly 3.9 million viewers.

ITV1 delivered a prime time audience of 3.6 million and the HD channel a further quarter of a million as Ronnie realised he may have a legitimate reason to remain in Rio as one of his Brazilian conquests fell pregnant.

The show peaked at just over four million viewers for both channels – with a share of 18.2% – trumping BBC One’s 14.5% share for Britain’s Secret Health.

The Panorama show peaked at over 3.3 million with an average viewing audience of 3.2 million as Declan Lawn reported on how ‘health tourists’ are obtaining free NHS treatment they should be paying for – at a cost of millions to the health service.

The news-making and much publicised expose on allegations that Jimmy Savile sexually abused vulnerable teenage girls in ITV1’s The Other Side of Jimmy Savile (11.10pm) drew a 20.8% share of available viewers with an average audience of 1.7 million across ITV1 and the equivalent channel in HD.

Overall it was a good evening for ITV as both the soaps, Emmerdale (ITV1 7pm) and Coronation Street (ITV1 7.30pm) took the most share at over a third of the available audience. Emmerdale had a combined (ITV1 and ITV1 hd) average audience  of 6.6 million and Coronation Street achieved an average of 7.7 million viewers.
