TV Overnights: Top Boy’s second episode matches debut

Channel 4’s second episode of Top Boy peaked with 1.3 million viewers at 10pm last night, matching their debut episode, which aired Monday.

The channel’s earlier 9pm slot saw Jamie’s Great Britain average just over 2 million viewers, but was beaten by ITV1’s 71 Degrees North, which attracted an average of 2.4 million viewers.

Taking full advantage of the peak-time 9pm slot was BBC One’s Death in Paradise, which peaked with 5.4 million viewers and held 22% of the audience share.

Channel 5 reached a high of 1.4 million viewers with CSI: Miami at 9pm followed by Big Brother, which averaged 1.1 million viewers and 6.9% of the audience share at 10pm.

In the early-evening slots the soaps dominated the ratings. ITV1’s  Emmerdale averaged 6.5 million viewers with an audience share of 29.7% at 7pm.

BBC One’s Eastenders hit a high of 8.5 million viewers, holding 36% of audience share at 7.30pm, followed by Holby City, which averaged 5.6 million viewers – maintaining 24% of the audience share.
