TV & Satellite Week Launch

TV & Satellite Week Launch

Yesterday IPC announced the launch of their new mass-market weekly listings magazine, TV & Satellite Week, due for release on March 2.

The new weekly full colour magazine will focus on accurate, detailed listings for cable & satellite, as well as terrestrial channels. With a total pagination of 76, each day’s viewing will have 6 pages of listings. Editorial will include an A-Z film guide to all movies on all channels and a sport-by-sport checklist of the whole week’s action; plus regular features on all the big shows on satellite and terrestrial television. Each issue will include 8 pages of advertising. Linda Lancaster-Gaye, publishing director of IPC’s TV weeklies said, “The listings market has stabilised following deregulation two years ago and we have identified an area ripe for expansion. We want to be the first into the weekly marketplace with a satellite TV magazine that also includes terrestrial TV listings to provide the total television picture”.

The £1.5 million launch of the magazine will include a high profile advertisement campaign on all Sky channels and UK Gold, as well as advertisements in a wide range of IPC magazines.

TV & Satellite Week, with a cover price of 55p, will be similar in size to TV Times, with a print run of 700,000. The magazine is aimed at the “family of spenders”. The editor is Colin Tough, formerly deputy editor of TV Times, and the advertising will be handled by Rupert Miles, advertisment director of IPC’s weeklies group.
