TV & Satellite Week Publishes Digital Edition

TV & Satellite Week has become the latest title to publish in digital form as publisher IPC tx makes its content available online using Olive’s Active Magazine technology and the M-Till payment system.

The digital edition is available at the magazine’s website, www.tvandsatelliteweek.com, and is an exact replica of the traditional print edition. The electronic format allows readers to enjoy the same content as the print edition, as well as offering several interactive features.

Amongst the high-tech benefits offered by the digital edition are searchable and highlightable text, website links to further programme information and the ability to archive issues on a PC.

While not initially available, the Active Magazine technology used by TV & Satellite Week also enables publishers to embed audio and video within the digital magazine. IPC tx is understood to be in discussions with broadcasters to incorporate relevant rich media content within TV the title which could include programme previews or promotional trailers.

Commenting on the development, IPC tx’s business development manager, Richard Waterworth, said: “This deal is part of our commitment to extend all of our magazine brands in relevant and innovative ways. TV & Satellite Week readers are highly PC-literate and we hope that this new product will increase their interest and involvement with the brand.”

The popularity of digital editions has grown steadily over recent years. Future Publishing recently created what it claims was the world’s first paperless magazine, dubbed BroadbandNow!, aimed at high-speed internet users and distributed electronically (see Future Launches World’s First Ever Paperless Magazine).

The title, aimed at web-savvy consumers aged between 25 and 55, covers a wide array of entertainment and computing topics and was soon challenged by a digital-only spin off title from IPC’s Web User magazine. The title, called Downloaded, covers much the same content as BroadbandNow!, keeping readers informed of the latest additions to the web and where to find them (see IPC’s Web User Launches Digital Spin-Off Magazine).
