TVChoice Ups Cover Price To Boost RSV

TV Choice Cover H. Bauer’s TVChoice magazine is to increase its cover price from 30p to 33p later this month, increasing the title’s retail sales value (RSV) by a massive £1.8 million, bringing the total to £19.5 million per annum.

The change, effective from 31 January, will help Bauer capitalise on the success of TVChoice, which has seen its circulation rise spectacularly since its launch in 1999. The magazine’s latest circulation, for the period Jan 05-Jun 05, stands just short of 1.2 million.

The last ABC results saw TV Choice notching up the largest sales increase of any TV title, adding a healthy 6.9% year on year (see ABC Results Jan-Jun 2005:TV Gives Mixed Results, While Gossip Continues Growth ABC Results Jan-Jun 2005:TV Gives Mixed Results, While Gossip Continues Growth ).

“H. Bauer is committed to driving long term revenue growth into the TV listings market,” Bauer’s TV listings publishing director Julie Lavington explained. “This price increase will put significant extra value into the market while ensuring that the sales growth of TVChoice is not compromised.

“TVChoice is the major success story in the TV listings market in recent years. It’s a fantastic product at a great value for money price and our loyal customer base just keeps growing.”

TV listings titles are one of the most profitable areas of magazine sales for newsagents, with more than £140 million in annual RSV generated from just 8 titles.

TVChoice’s new pricing sees the title remain the cheapest TV listings title on the newsstand, with its closest competitor TV Easy, published by IPC, 5p more expensive.
