UGC Website Expands Operations Into US

VideoJug VideoJug, the UGC website offering ‘how-to’ content, has announced a major expansion of its operations as it launches into the US with VideoJug America.

The launch sees the appointment of veteran executive and television producer Peter J Schankowitz as CEO of VideoJug America in Los Angeles.

VideoJug’s expansion into the US follows the launch of the site in late September 2006 (see New Website Offers New Advertising Opportunities).

The site had over 500,000 unique visitors in January 2007. Nearly half of the traffic to VideoJug has been from North America.

VideoJug America will be responsible for business development and the marketing and public relations efforts in the US market, as well as developing US focused content.

Dan Thompson, global CEO of VideoJug, said: “Expansion into the US is the natural next step for our rapidly expanding business. The US audience has already shown a huge interest in VideoJug content and having a team on the ground in America is an important step towards growing and monetising that audience.”

At the start of February, Steven Filler, advertising and sponsorship manager at Guardian Unlimited, joined user-generated content website VideoJug as head of commercial operations (see Guardian Unlimited Advertising Manager Joins UGC Website).
