US Local Online Video Revenues To Grow

A new report from Borrell Associates, The New Frontier: Local Online Video Advertising, US local online video advertising will grow from $161 million in 2006 to $371 million this year.

Borrell predicts that in five years local online video advertising will account for more than one third of all local online advertising in the US.

A recent Borrell report said that local online advertising in the US will grow by 31.6% over 2006, reaching $7.7 billion in 2007 (see US Local Online Advertising To Grow 31% Over 2006).

The New Frontier: Local Online Video Advertising report states that newspaper-run web sites took in $81 million from streaming video advertising in 2006, compared with $32 million for TV station web sites.

However, it adds that an overwhelming majority of TV stations are now preparing to start selling video ads on their sites this year.

A recent report from JupiterResearch said that 53% of online US teens watch video on the internet occasionally and 22% of them view video weekly or more frequently (see 53% Of US Teens Watch Online Video)
