US owners criticise connected TV experience

Latest research from the Strategy Analytics Digital Home Observatory (DHO) service claims that many smart TV owners are frustrated by slow user interfaces and complex registrations processes.

Users are disappointed by the speed of their connected TVs, particularly compared to smartphones and tablets, according to the report. Users also complained that there is too much irrelevant content in TV apps stores.

Another barrier is that apps are categorised in a way which is over-complicated and some apps that appear are not optimised for TV use.

“All in all, smart TV manufacturers have a long way to go before they match the fast, intuitive user experience now familiar to owners of smartphones and tablets,” Caroline Park, analyst and the report’s author, said.
