Video Upfronts – Final agenda confirmed

Whether or not you accept the assertion by Cameron Yuill that all online advertising will be video, the growth of the market is clear for everyone to see – latest IAB/PWC figures report that video advertising grew 46% to £160 million last year, accounting for 12% of online and mobile display; up from 10% in 2011. In the last three years video advertising spend has increased 471%.

On Thursday, MediaTel launches a new event in the media calendar. The Video Upfronts Marketplace will pull together content, technology and business in one room. The final agenda is confirmed and available to view here.

Here’s how the day shapes up:

After Nielsen’s Andrew Bradford has put the market stats into context, and provided some further insights, we are delighted to have Philip DeBevoise, president and co-founder of Machinima and head of YouTube and creative agency sales, Hamish Nicklin to launch the showcase sessions with presentations that combine content and technology.

To complete this session, delegates will get to hear about the world of video bloggers via Gleam Digital and vlogger, Ruth Crilly; and a panel session will also include Channel 5’s head of digital, James Tatum.

After the break, Millward Brown’s Martin Ash will give some views and case studies around how brands are using online video, before Alex Craven, firector EMEA sales strategy at Videology talks about the advertising practicalities – the glue that sticks it all together.

In the post-lunch session, there’s a snappy thirty minutes around newsbrands. Ian Dowds, MD of digital media at Trinity Mirror, and a former senior VP at Specific Media, is as well placed as anyone to comment on publishers’ video opportunities and challenges, and the audience will also get to see Newsflare, a start-up that gathers and verifies citizen video for sale to major publishers’ sites.

The event concludes with a not-to-be-missed session that has a major focus on new content – Peter Cowley, founder of Spirit Digital Media, YuMe’s Owen Hanks (with a mobile angle); and Rockabox founder Torie Chilcott present; and Claire Tavernier, owner of StoryTechLife (and formerly head of FMX at Freemantle) joins the final panel session.

There are just a few invite-only guest tickets remaining – contact Yasmin Greaves at MediaTel Group / 0207420 3252 for more information.
