Virgin Media Develops Sports Video Player

Virgin Media Virgin Media and sports network Perform have developed an online video player for ITV Sport, The Guardian, News International, Trinity Mirror and Virgin Media itself.

The new e-Player will be dedicated to sports content, with highlights from the FA Premier League as well as other sporting events.

Virgin Media and Perform have designed the video player to complement existing videos in the sports sections of the publisher’s websites.

Oli Slipper, Perform’s CEO, said: “We’re aggregating a huge amount of sports content. Publishers often don’t have the time to do that so it plugs a gap in their offering.”

Peform has predicted the new service will attract around 20 million plays per month by the end of the year.

Publishers will be given a revenue share from the ad sales, which will be handled by IDS.
