Virgin Radio has appointed former Emap television and Guardian Media Group employees in an expansion of its in-house digital media operations, designed to aid the company’s launch on new platforms and its revamp of digital content and sales.
Claire Thrift joins from Emap television as featured producer and Sharne Marshall joins as commercial producer from the Guardian Media Group. The 12-strong editorial, development, production and sales team will be lead by James Cridland, director of digital media.
The team has expanded from just three a year ago and will support the launch of the new-look Virgin Radio website (see Virgin Radio Reveals New Website) and other digital platforms, including Nokia’s Visual Radio and increased interactivity on other areas.
“With a new-look website and a presence on every possible digital platform for radio, we’re cementing our position as one of the UK’s top digital brands,” said Cridland.
“We’ve now got the resource and talent to generate some really exciting new content and channels that both listeners and advertisers will love; and the capability to move quickly to make the most of new technologies and trends.”
