What’s On TV Expands Mobile Service

What's On TV What’s on TV‘s mobile service is launching onto the Vodafone live!, O2 Active and Orange World portals, taking the brand to millions of mobile users to give them easy access to up to the minute TV news and programme listings.

The mobile deals follow the launch last month of www.whatsontv.co.uk (see What’s On TV To Launch New Website), offering users an online multi-channel TV listings guide, TV news and gossip, and an in-depth film guide.

Philippa Brown, managing director of IPC tx, said: “What’s on TV is building an increasingly prominent presence in the digital world and I’m delighted its mobile service has attracted such prestigious partners.

“Millions of mobile users will now have easy access to the service, which will extend the What’s on TV brand even further.”

Miles Ross, IPC Media head of mobile, added: “TV’s expansion in the digital space is progressing at speed and it makes sense for the services of What’s on TV, the UK’s favourite TV magazine, to be in the pocket of the consumer wherever they are.

“These deals represent an opportunity for What’s on TV to extend its reach tremendously.”

What’s on TV Mobile launched in September 2006 with a marketing campaign targeted at What’s on TV readers.

As well as the latest programme news and TV listings, the service offers TV-related ringtones, wallpapers and SMS alerts.

IPC SouthBank announced yesterday that Marie Claire, its flagship women’s glossy, is launching its own mobile service (see Marie Claire To Go Mobile).

At the last ABCs What’s on TV had a circulation of around 1.5 million having recorded a year on year decline of almost 10% (see ABC Results Jan-Jun 2006:Decline For TV Listings And Mixed Results For Soap).

ABC figures for July-December 2006 are released on tomorrow, with NewsLine providing comprehensive coverage of all key areas of the results.
