Wires? Where we’re going we don’t need wires, thanks to Ikea

Aren’t wires ugly. And with all this new digital kit filling up the living room, we are living in a cluttered wire-filled world.

Thank heavens for Ikea…

Ikea have come up with a new furniture range that integrates a fully functioning smart TV and sound system within a piece of furniture, which Ikea says “solves the problem of cable clutter and miss-match between TV and furniture”.

However the bad news for the UK is that they are not looking to launch the range here, at least not yet.

The UPPLEVA range will be available in Stockholm, Milan, Paris, Gdansk and Berlin in June 2012. During autumn 2012 UPPLEVA is available in all of the stores in Sweden, Italy, France, Poland, Denmark, Spain, Norway and Portugal , and during spring 2013 in even more countries.

Of course, if you’ve already bought a snazzy new smart tv, then this is too late for you and you’ll just have to cope with the ugly wires littering your lounge.
