Barry Wood will join Emap Advertising in Scotland this summer in the new role of commercial director. The former Yahoo! head of specialist agency sales will join the group at their Edinburgh offices in July, leading an eight-strong sales team.
Wood’s experience will be vital in leading the team, who will be managing and delivering creative advertising solutions across the company’s national radio portfolio for Scottish media agencies and the Scottish Executive exclusively.
Previously the team has been working only with Emap Advertising’s Scottish radio stations, but the shift in the team’s role will provide the company with the opportunity to expand radio sales in Scotland. Later this month Alex Macleod will also join the team.
The changes will allow Emap Advertising’s Scottish office the ability to mirror the successful structures operating in the London and Manchester offices. Scottish agencies and the Scottish Executive will also now have easier access to national radio brands, which are becoming an increasingly important tool for targeting specific audiences within the UK.
The new appointment and expansion indicate a significant investment into radio sales outside of England. Wood said: “This is a great opportunity to bring Emap’s entire portfolio of radio brands to our Scottish agencies and the Scottish executive to ensure that market-leading customer service is a priority.”
