Worldwide Online Gamers To Hit 114m By 2006

Online games will be played by around 114 million worldwide by 2006, according to a new forecast from DFC Intelligence. Online game usage is expected to increase nearly six-fold in that period, says the report.

The report also says that top online games are now able to generate revenues in excess of $100 million each. Recent successes should bode well for the fortunes of big budget online games planned for release this year.

Additionally, DFC forecasts that by 2006, 23 million consumers worldwide will be playing console games online.
