10.8 Million Adults Watch X Factor Final

Leon It was the final of The X Factor on Saturday, and a nation held its breath as the three remaining acts battled it out to be named this year’s winner.

It was a bit of a shock in the end, with Leon triumphing against Rhydian as brother and sister duo Same Difference fell by the wayside.

The first part of the show, on ITV1 at 7pm, had a peak of 10.5 million adults (a 47.7% share of the audience) and an average of 9.9 million adults stuck with it for its two hour running time.

The second instalment, on at 9.30pm, revealed the winner, and a peak of 10.8 million adults tuned in to see who would become favourite to land the number one spot at the top of the hit parade this Christmas.

Over on BBC One earlier in the evening at 6pm was Strictly Come Dancing. On a bad night for Wales, Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jones was voted off the show, leaving Alesha Dixon and Matt Di Angelo to fight for the title next week.

A peak of 10.4 million adults (a 49% share) watched the quick-stepping action, with an average of 9.9 million sticking with it for its hour long running time.

It was another big finale for ITV1 on Sunday night, as Michael Parkinson bade farewell to Billy Conolly for one last time.

Parkinson: The Final Interview, had a peak of 8.7 million adults (a 44.8% share).
