Ad Net Zero advertisers must declare carbon targets

In brief

All supporters of the industry’s climate action initiative Ad Net Zero supporters are now required to publicly declare a “science-based net zero target”.

The UK trade body-backed scheme announced the move ahead of a week-long exhibition at Cannes Lions to promote sustainable services and behaviours in front of a global ad industry audience.

Supporters will also be required to measure and report their progress annually, while targets will need to be created within 12 months if not already in place.

It follows the move by Cannes Lions to include a sustainability question in this year’s award entries.
