4oD To Move To Channel4.com

4oD To Move To Channel4.com

4oD 4oD, Channel 4’s catch-up service, is to be merged into the broadcaster’s core website, Channel4.com.

The move, which is expected to take place next month, will allow Channel4.com users to watch programmes online up to seven days after transmission.

It is understood that Channel 4 was originally going to merge the 4oD service into channel4.com once the VoD service from Channel 4, ITV and the BBC, Kangaroo, had launched (see Kangaroo “In Final Stages” Of Development).

However, Kangaroo’s launch has been delayed, with some reports claiming that it might not happen until August.

As a result of this delay, Channel 4 has decided to move forward and host the catch-up service on channel4.com before Kangaroo launches.

In May, the broadcaster will launch a full version of 4oD on Virgin Media’s cable platform, with the service expected to offer advertisers the opportunity to carry ads on a pre-roll, post-roll and sponsorship basis.
