7.5m Tune In For Return Of Midsomer Murders

Midsomer Murders ITV1 was the big ratings winner last night, with a peak of 7.5 million adults tuning in for the return of Midsomer Murders at 8pm.

The two hour crime drama, which saw John Nettles investigating yet another murder in the sleepy village, had an average of 7.2 million viewers, a 30.9% share of the audience.

It easily outshone BBC One’s period piece, Miss Austen Regrets, which could only manage a peak of 4.2 million in its 8pm slot.

The fictionalisd account of Jane Austen’s private life was on for an hour and a half and had an average audience of 3.8 million viewers.
