TV market round-up: April 2014

After a poor performance in March, April saw a strong return to form for commercial television, with all channels reporting growth.

ITV put in the strongest performance, up 18.8% to secure £120.5 million – growth of more than £19 million.

Channel 4 was up 11.6% on March, recording total revenues of £46.7 million, while Channel 5, which earlier this month was sold to Viacom Inc for £450 million, was up only 6.2% to £25.3 million.

Total terrestrial TV (including a strong performing ITV Breakfast) was up 15.1% overall while total satellite channels finished the month with more than £151 million – growth of 2.3%.
