TV market round-up: June 2014

There were mixed results for commercial television channels in June, with only ITV – on the back of World Cup fever – reporting any significant gains.

A 24.1% increase in revenue for the broadcaster saw it surpass the £108.5 million mark – up from £87.4 million on the previous year – while ITV Breakfast recorded a marginal 1.9% increase to hit £3.8 million.

A -16.9% loss for Channel 4 took its revenue down from £39.5 million in June 2013 to £32.8 million this year, while a -3.5% loss for Channel 5 saw revenue fall by just over £700,000 year on year.

Overall total terrestrial (including ITV Breakfast) was up 9.1% to hit £165.4 million, while total satellite was down -11.3% to £110.5 million.
