Consumer ABCs: News & Current Affairs

The news and current affairs market leader The Economist has grown 14% year on year as a digital title to just under a million for average circulation.

However, The Economist also shrunk by 9% for print circulation to 648,543, the latest consumer ABC data shows for July-December 2021.

Fortnightly Private Eye, which staunchly remains a print title, has grown marginally by 0.4% to 237,754.

The 17-year-old astronomy monthly BBC Sky At Night enjoyed a 14% year-on-year surge in average circulation to 16,902. Immediate stablemate BBC History Magazine also grew strongly by 5.1% year on year to 78,979.

Meanwhile The New Scientist, in its first ABC report as a DGMT brand since last year’s acquisition, experienced a 1% year on year decline to 57,009.

After a strong showing in the previous ABC report in August, The Week Junior was down 7.1% year on year and 9.1% compared to the previous period.
