Netflix has acquired SpryFox, an independent game developer focused on “cozy, original” games such as Triple Town, Alphabear, and Cozy Grove.
SpryFox will be Netflix’s sixth in-house gaming studio following a bevy of other acquisitions this year and the launch of a Helsinki-based internal studio in September.
Amir Rahimi, Netflix’s VP of game studios, commented that the streaming company is building out its in-house creative capacity to deliver gaming experiences that will not include ads or in-app purchases.
