Maggie O’Riordan has been appointed deputy editor of The Times.
Earlier this month, O’Riordan left Associated Newspapers after 15 years, most recently working as deputy editor of the Mail on Sunday. Her departure occurred amid broader layoffs and cost-cutting measures this spring as part of the publisher’s shift to digital strategy.
“I have long admired The Times’ fantastic writing and analysis and am delighted to be joining a brand which is such an important part of the nation’s heritage yet manages to remain fresh, relevant and a leader of the digital revolution,” said O’Riordan.
She will officially begin in June.
