Emap Secures Garnier For Colourful Campaign

Emap has secured an extensive cross-media advertising deal with Garnier to promote the hair-care brand’s latest range of hair products across its various magazine, television and radio platforms.

The promotion will see a number of competitions and sponsored sections appear in Emap’s flagship More and Heat magazines, as well as across the Kiss and Big City radio networks.

Garnier will also sponsor a separate inside front cover of More magazine to accompany the launch of its 100% Colour hair products. It will offer readers the chance to nominate friends who have ‘given 100%’ to win a trip to New York.

Commenting on the promotion, Emap’s Rebecca Lisica, part of the company’s youth creative solutions team, said: “Emap’s female youth portfolio is the perfect solution for a highly targeted beauty conscious product campaign such as Garnier 100% colour.”

The deal was brokered by Scott Holmes of Universal McCann, who added: “Emap and Garnier are a perfect brand fit, both brands appeal to youthful, fun-loving women, whilst Emap’s multi-media portfolio gives us fantastic access to the young women who make up Garnier’s target demographic. We are delighted with what we are sure will be a highly effective sponsorship deal.”

Earlier this month Emap confirmed plans to close its veteran teenage magazine J-17 and suspended publication of style bible The Face with the possibility of the title being sold or reinvented. The company has also announced that revenues are expected to rise by 9% in its full year results for 2003 in line with expectations (see Emap Revenues Rise 9% As Advertising Improves).
