Telegraph Extends Garden Show Sponsorship

The Daily Telegraph has announced it will continue to co-sponsor the Daily Telegraph House & Garden Fair at London’s Olympia, continuing its eight-year long association with the event and underlining the Telegraph’s coverage of homes and garden events.

Under the sponsorship deal the Telegraph will have a significant presence with one of the largest stands of the show acting as a showcase for relevant features and sections from the Daily Telegraph and the Sunday Telegraph. The Telegraph‘s gardening columnist John Cushnie and Andrew Catchpole, the paper’s wine columnist will both give talks to visitors, further personifying the newspaper and increasing its profile at the show.

The deal will be supported through in-paper advertisements and promotions as well as editorial coverage in the newspaper’s Weekend, Gardening, and Telegraph magazine supplements.

Commenting on the sponsorship Mark Dixon, marketing director at Telegraph Group Limited, said: “The Daily Telegraph House & Garden Fair is always extremely popular with our readers. The show is an ideal complement to the strength and breadth of our interiors and gardening coverage.”

Earlier this year the Telegraph launched two new supplements to extend its coverage of homes and property. Its latest specialist supplement entitled France and Spain Unlocked gives readers a guide to overseas property, while the paper’s new Commuter Guide 2004 provides city-bound travellers handy information on country life and homes within easy reach of London (see Telegraph Targets Commuters With Weekend Rail Guide).

Both the Daily Telegraph and the Sunday Telegraph have seen circulations decline recently. According to the latest ABC data the Sunday Telegraph has lost 4.2% year on year in the six months to May, while the Daily Telegraph has fared better, losing only 1.9%. The Daily and Sunday Telegraph now command circulations of just over 900,000 and 700,000 respectively.
