Xfm Denies Laverne To Take Breakfast Slot

Xfm, the London-based indie music station owned by GCap Media, has denied reports that drivetime DJ Lauren Laverne is to host its Breakfast Show following the departure of Christian O’Connell.

A spokeswoman for the station said: “The story this afternoon hasn’t come from us. No such appointment has been made, although we do hope to make an announcement on the Breakfast Show in the next few days.”

Laverne is understood to be amongst those in the running for the prestigious job, made vacant by O’Connell’s defection to rival Virgin, announced earlier this year (see Virgin Signs O’Connell As New Breakfast Host).

Also believed to be on the shortlist for the breakfast job is station newcomer Lucio, reportedly a favourite amongst Xfm management.
