HomeChoice Lowers Prices And Offers More

HomeChoice On-demand TV and broadband provider, HomeChoice, looks set to revamp its pricing and packaging structure, with the majority of customers seeing a decrease in their monthly bills and an increase in the number of channels they receive.

HomeChoice will now be offering customers three options, a “Base Pack”, a “Big Pack” or a “Max Pack” giving users a variety of different digital programmes, broadband speed and video on demand.

The Base Pack includes 1Mb broadband, digital television and video on-demand, as well as free evening and weekend telephone calls. The Big Pack delivers a more extensive selection of quality digital TV channels and a choice of different broadband speeds for the PC.

The Big Pack also offers subscribers access to a number of channels that were previously only available as add-on premium channels in HomeChoice’s previous pricing structure.

The Max Pack, comprises of the Big Pack plus two add on TV packages, the Kids TV Pack and the V:MX Music TV pack. Subscribers to any of the deals also have access to HomeChoice’s library of over 1000 movies available to watch instantly.

HomeChoice now offers three internet speeds, 1Mb, 2Mb and Max Speed, offering customer’s speeds up to 8Mb, while the costs of the HomeChoice Anytime talk plan have also changed, enjoying a reduction in price.

Commenting on the new pricing and packaging deals, Roger Lynch, chairman and chief executive officer of Video Networks said: “Our new pricing and packaging structure offers HomeChoice customers the most competitive pricing available in the UK today.”

He continued: “At £17.99 for a triple play option that includes 1Mb broadband, digital TV, video on-demand and free evening and weekend calls is unbeatable value. We’ll be migrating our current subscribers to the package that is closest to their current chosen option from September 1st. All of our customers will see an increase in their channel line up and the vast majority will see a decrease in their monthly bill.”

HomeChoice also revealed that it would be announcing a significant number of new broadcast and video on-demand channels to coincide with the new packages going live.

Elsewhere, rival broadband and on-demand TV provider, Telewest Broadband, has announced plans to shake-up its blueyonder internet services, offering customers significant speed upgrades from next month at no extra cost (see Telewest Speeds Up Broadband To Beat Competition).

The cable company will offer three tiers of broadband at varying speeds and will be free of usage limitations. The new services will be available to every home with access to Telewest’s broadband enabled network.

Last month, Telewest expended the range of its fledgling on-demand service, Teleport, to offer customers access to complete TV series at the touch of a button (see Telewest Boosts On Demand Content Fivefold).

The service bolsters the company’s existing on-demand programme portfolio, extending it from around 60 hours of content to over 300 hours, comprising shows from the National Geographic channel, Discovery, LIVINGtv, Bravo and the BBC.
